What do poodles look like?

Toy poodles are the cutest little things. Most have the shorter little legs, long ears if left to grow the hair long. Curly fur, short nose, cropped off tail usually. Toy poodles measure 10 inches and under.

Poodles come in the following sizes.

• Standard poodle

• Miniature poodle

• Toy poodle

Any other size of poodle, for example tiny toy poodle, teacup poodle and tiny teacup poodles are not recognized by AKC or BKC or similar authorizations as being true poodle breeds. They are poodles but are usually much smaller than the recognized three sizes of poodles because of genetically inbreeding by breeders.

A groomed miniature poodle should look like any groomed poodle you have ever seen except shrunk or enlarged to be the size of a miniature poodle (11-15 inches tall). Like any poodle a miniature poodle could have many different haircuts. A show groomed poodle should have straight hair that sticks out from the body evenly and short evenly clipped hair on at least the face and paws.
