No known pterosaurs were plant eaters, or herbivores. Some species of pterosaur hunted fish, while others specialized in insects or small animals, and some hunted some combination of these. What a pterosaur hunted depended on the size of the specific species and its size and adaptations.

Pterodactylus probably caught most of its food by simply snatching it in its jaws, where its teeth would kill or disable the prey, and then swallowing it whole. In the case that it killed something to big to swallow whole, if it ever did, it would have simply swallowed bite sized pieces.

Pterodactylus only had a wingspan of about 5 feet, so it was definitely small enough to be hunted by larger carnivores. However, they could fly and thus would have been very difficult to catch.
