Amateurs, regardless of handicap, play the forward tees.
The money that the amateurs win at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am goes to the charity that they are playing for.
Each team is made of one amateur and one professional golfer. The professional golfer plays with no handicap as usual, but the amateur gets strokes from their handicap. The strokes are designated to the holes which correspond to the amateurs' handicap. If they get a shot on a hole and make par, that counts as one under etc. In the Pro Am at Pebble Beach, there are three rounds in each all amateurs play, then the top 25 get to play the final day. The amateurs play off forward tees, sometimes as far as 100 yards ahead of the pros.
During a Pro Am there are two sets of tees. Ones which the pros play off, these would be the tournament tees. The other set is the Amateur tees, from which the amateurs play off, these are usually quite far forward as much as 150 yards in front of the pro tees!
Playing "from the tips" means to play the course at it's longest, i.e from the championship tees or back tees.
There are a number of different tee markers because each one indicates which group should tee off from where, and for what purpose. Examples * Competition tees * General play tees * Ladies tees * Senior tees * Juniour tees
Yes, they are an accessory.
Here is a link to the course tour: http://www.pebblebeach.com/page.asp?id=1280 The par 5's are: Hole 2 - 502 yards (blue tees) Hole 6 - 500 yards Hole 14 - 572 yards Hole 18 - 543 yards
If you are a man, simply play off the easiest men's tees. This will not only build up your confidence, but it will also not be too challenging for you, and hopefully your scores will come down. Then advance to the more difficult mens' tees and then maybe even the medal tees. If you are a woman just play off the easiest women's tees, but at my club there only one set of tees for ladies.
It depends which kind of rubber tees you mean. Like a driving range tees, then no. But you can use the pyramid tees that usually come in a bunch of three in three different sizes.
I have my son play from the ladies tees but in tournaments they play about 50 yards up.
No. You play off the stipulated tees on every single hole. If you play off the wrong tees or outside of the teeing ground,in matchplay there is no penalty, but your opponent may ask you to replay the shot and there is a two stroke penalty in stroke play. In stroke play you must correct your mistake before teeing off at the next hole, that is, you are effectively playing three from the tee, if you do not correct your mistake before teeing off at the next hole you are disqualified.
They play from the tee box which is specially designated for the tournament. They would play from further back than the ladies tee box would be on a standard course. The course plays considerably longer than another course also.
the tees barrage is in stockton
