Generally speaking, Feather is interpreted as: Lack of concentration, instability, unpredictability. ®Something you laugh at will turn out to be important.
However feathers are regularly used in magic and have become associated with both the colour of the feather and the bird it originates from. A more specific description of the feather and its circumstance might help to give a better symbolization.
