The warthog is the only pig species that has adapted to grazing and Savannah habitats and its diet is omnivorous (like all pigs) and composed of grasses, roots, berries and other fruits, bark, fungi, eggs and carrion. The diet changes with the seasons, depending on availability of different food items. During the wet seasons warthogs graze on short perennial grasses and in the dry seasons they subsist on bulbs, rhizomes and nutritious roots.

Warthogs are omnivores, they eat grass, bulbs and roots. Roots are their favorite. Once in a while you might find a warthog eating a dead animals or bones, but they usually eat some sort of plant. When they are about 2 weeks old, they eat their mother's poo to get the bacteria inside them necessary to digest plants.
