Most people who believe in religion believe in only one religion. Few people, for example, claim to be both Christian and Hindu. consequently, there is no special term for someone who believes in only one religion.

Those who follow a religion that holds there is one and only one deity are called monotheistic

Depending on the god you speak of there are many things. If you believe in the Jewish God only then you are called a Jew. If you believe in the God who had a son, Jesus Christ, then they would be called Christian or Catholic.

The general word for a person who believes in any god is theist.
Some believe in one god (Christians, Muslims, Jews) and are called monotheists (one god believers). Others believe in many gods (Hindus, Wiccans) and are called polytheists (many god believers). Yet others attribute a god to almost everything in nature - these are the pantheists (gods in everything).

The phrasing of this question is logically circular. The lack of a qualifying article before the term god inserts into the question an implied particular entity as the reference of that term. In other words, by saying "in god" rather than "in a god" or "in some god", the questioner is asserting a privileged definition for the term. Such privilege implies the actual existence of the term's object.

More generally, those who believe in any sort of deity can be referred to as theists (people that believe that AT LEAST one god exists), monotheists (people that believe that ONLY one god exists), or polytheists (people that believe that MORE THAN one god exists).
A Christian

Christians believe also in Jesus Christ (hence the name "Christian".) Many non-Christian religions also believe in God, including the Jewish religion. Moslems are also monotheistic, but they use another name.

Someone who believes in God may also be termed a "deist". Thomas Jefferson was one.
People who believe in God(s) are called theists. They include monotheists (one God only), polytheists (many gods). There are other subclasses as well, such as pantheists and deists. It all gets a bit complex when you look at those. But they are all theists.

Monotheism is the term for belief in one God or spirit. The word comes from the Greek terms "monos," meaning only or alone, and "theos," meaning divine or God.
