Jazz
Blues and ragtime music are considered the roots of jazz.
Jazz isn't simply a blend of blues and ragtime. There were several other influences that played their part e.g. the rhythmic influence aspect of African drumming, military band music and the French classical music that was favoured by the Creole population in New Orleans at the time that the first jazz began to be played. But, this is all supposition and subsequent analysis. As no-one wrote about the origins of jazz until some years after the event. no-one really knows.
