Do you mean as in you missed the vein ? If this is the case then you will still get high off it you just wont get that initial hit and it will take time while it is absorbed into your muscle tissue. If you get a bulge from where you missed then it should disappear within a few days but a block of ice on the spot will help with any bruising.

Apply hot water soaked in a wash cloth or soak area in hot water. not so hot as to burn or damage the skin. This will help even if it has been days or weeks since the miss occurred!

I have seen it cure the miss by doing this for a couple hours even after it was abscess for almost a month! The heat will help dissolve the miss and make dissipate until gone!

Watch out for an infection which could cause blood poisoning such as a red line originating at the abscess and slowly traveling up the vein toward the heart, if that happens see a Doctor Who will probably treat you with an antibiotic like penicillin.( or treat you by doing what I typed above)

That probably would help, but a foolproof fix is to put a potato on it. Cut a potato in have and hold it or secure it to your arm.
