If your dog won't eat due to grief, try doing something special with your dog to make it feel better. Exercise your dog more, play more, or groom it more if that's what it likes. You can try cooking a bland diet for your dog to get it interested in food again. Boiled hamburger with the grease drained off, white rice, and plain pasta are all safe foods.

∙ 14y agoI would leave him alone and not force him to eat. Dogs some times refuse to eat if they are having an upset stomach or difficulty eating food. It is perfectly normal for dogs to refuse eating once in one or two months. So dont worry. Once he is hungry he will start barking and you can feed him after that. Forcing a dog to eat is not much of a help here.

If your dog refuses to eat the dog needs to be taken to a vet right away. There is no reason why a dog would not want to eat, mine cannot stop. Good idea, yet when I took my dog to the vet for not eating. The Vet asked if I left her food pan down all day. My answer was, yes. The Vest told me to only put the pan down for an hour a day and take it up for the rest of the day. Only leave a supply of water all day. He basically said I have to establish a pattern for her. It worked!
