Best Answer

Use a container of a particular size (say 1 cubic metre) fill with water and weigh.

The weight (mass) = 1000 kg, so density of water = 1000 kg per cubic metre

Repeat with iron = 7850 kilograms, so density = 7850 kg per cubic metre

For the same volume iron is 7.85 times the mass of water

So iron is 7.85 times the density of water

Relative density is the density of a material compared to the density of water.

How is the relative density of an object determined?

Relative density is determined by the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance.

Relative to what. It has an mean density of 3.3464 g/cc.

What do you mean relative density?

I haven't seen it in context, so I am not sure. However, I would expect it to mean, the density, compared to that of some other substance.

What is the difference density and relative density?

DENSITY : density is the ratio of mass and volume of the substance density=mass/volume RELATIVE DENSITY : It is the ratio of density of a substance to the density of water

If the relative density of gold is 19.3 what would be its density?

relative density is related to the density of water. i.e. a relative density of 19.3 means that it has a density 19.3 times the density of water. The density of water is 1g/ml therefore the density of gold is 19.3g/ml

What is the unit of density and unit of relative density?

In SI system, unit of density is kg/m3 But no unit for relative density as it is the ratio of density of the material to that of water

What is relative density. What is the SI unit of relative density?

The ratio of thee density of a substance of the density of a standard , usually water for a liquid or solid and aur for a gas. The SI unit of relative density is g/ m3
