It varies with each competition, but they're usually similar.
First, everyone gets an ajudication. Which can be silver, gold, high gold, or platinum depending on your score (platinum is the highest).
Then, they do the first in each category. So who ever gets the highest score in jazz will get something, the highest score in tap will, etc.
Next is Overalls. For each age section they will do a top ten. The ten is the dances with the highest score in their age group.
Often, they do judges choice awards.. like Fancy Feet or Broadway Bound, etc.

The winning contestant actually wins the title of "America's Favorite Dancer," prize money in the amount of $250,000, and a cover feature in a Dance magazine. Also, a new prize for the summer 2010 season winner is an ad campaign contract with Gatorade, as the Gatorade Corporation is now recognizing dance as a sport.
