For the very top riders it's money. Sometimes big money. Further down the ladder you can win saddles, horse trailers, ect. Further down (breed shows) the riders ride for points, which at the end of the show season means hi-point awards and honors. At the very bottom (small local and schooling shows) are ribbons and sometimes a trophy or belt buckle. But this is the level where you find the most satisfaction in a job well done.
A rosette is what we call the ribbons you win while horseback riding.
To gain experience! When you grow older, you can say you've already been in horse- back riding and you know the general feeling of riding on horse back. Plus, it's fun! You can also win trophies and go to competitions...have fun!

It can. Gymnastics requires balance and strength, just like riding. However, like the answer beneath me, horse riding improves horse riding the best- but it's not necessarily the only thing to improve riding. No not really. Horse riding improves horse riding. That is pretty much it. It is so unique in itself that it is the only thing that will improve itself.
There is no specific horse you have to use for horseback riding, as long as the horse is trained.
