The Lord God has driven out the people of Canaan because of their wickedness and replaced them with those who are supposed to be the shining example for how people should act in relation to our Father (the house of Israel).
In other words the people of Canaan were driven out for the sake of all the people around Canaan who observed the power and might of our Father and his actions, so they would surly observe and know.

∙ 8y agoDeuteronomy 9:4-5 tells the Israelites that when they receive the Holy Land under Joshua, it isn't because of their own righteousness. Rather, it is because of God's covenant with the Forefathers, and because of the wickedness of the Canaanites.
The Israelites, though closer to God than any subsequent generation, fell somewhat below the perfect standard that God had wanted of them in the wilderness. Their service of God did not reach the level of that of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
