IP3 means 3rd-order intermodulation products. When an amplifier is not perfectly linear it distorts the incoming waveform and if signals are input at two frequencies f1 and f2 the basic intermodulation products are at the two frequencies f1±f2.

3rd-order products are f1±2f2 and 2f1±f2. This gives problems because when f1 and f2 are almost equal, there are 3rd-order products that are close to them in frequency and therefore difficult to filter out.

What is IP3 and IM3?

IM3 degrades the sensitivity of the desired signal as an in band spurious frequency component. IP3 determines the severity of the degradation as a measurement through the linearity of the system.

If two samples have identical Rf values does this mean that they are necessarily identical molecules Explain?

No. The molecules MAY (and probably are if you are presented with this situation in school/college lab courses) be identical but just the Rf values is not enough information to determine, you must conduct additional tests. Two different molecules can have the same Rf value.Compound A will always have an Rf of X in solvent M. Compound B will always have and Rf of Y in solvent M. But, Rf X can be equivalent to Rf Y without compounds A and B being identical.
