It depends on what kind of species they are. The elves wear a lot of long robes and flowing garments. Hobbits wear simpler clothes, with maybe a vest and a coat. The nine members of the Fellowship all wore green cloaks given to them in Rivendell, throughout the rest of the three films.
Typical Hobbit clothes are plain and convenient. Jeans maybe, with a cotton shirt and maybe some sort of vest or jacket. Usually very casual, somewhat bland attire overall. Never any shoes.
