C is for cost (value before shipping) and F is for freight/shipping.
I think the "terms of sale" are simply all the terms defined in the sales contract... They include name of commodity, specifications, packing, quantity, unit price, total value, time of shipment, port of loading etc...
CIF m mean is: the seller pay the Cost, insurance and freight to distance port. CIF means the buyer insures the goods for the maritime phase of the voyage, the shipper/seller will insure the merchandise. In this arrangement, the seller usually chooses the forwarder. "Delivery" as above, is accomplished at the port of destination.
The Business Dictionary defines CPT, or Carriage Paid To, as a term of sale. The seller provides the CPT, which includes all shipping charges necessary for delivery of the item shipped to the destination named on the CPT. Insurance costs are not included in a CPT.
