Pull - Pull the pin on top
Aim - Aim the hose at the base of the fire
Squeeze - Squeeze the handle
Sweep - Sweep at the base of the fire until out
If it doesn't work, drop extinguisher, and run for your life, or walk if it isn't an emergency.

Regarding fire extinguishers, Pull, Aim, Spray, Sweep is the suggested method for extinguishing a fire. Pull the pin, Aim the extinguisher at the base of the fire, Spray the chemical at the fire, and Sweep from side to side.
Regarding firefighting equipment, the Personal Alert Safety System is a device that is designed to sound an alarm when a firefighter has not moved in a set amount of time. These can be integrated with the SCBA (the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus), and they act to alert firefighters to find and rescue a firefighter that has been incapacitated.
