What does Wii Motion Plus do?

No. The original Wii controller only detects 200 degrees of movement per second, therefore games not designed for the Motion Plus will likewise only detect 200 degrees of movement per second. The Motion Plus detects 1600 degrees of movement per second, but any game not programmed for it will ignore the other 1400.

The Wii Motion Plus accessory has tiny accelerometer's that can track what dimension the Wii remote is facing, similar to the iPhone (when you flip it, the iPhone can tell if its horizontal or vertical). By using 2 or maybe 3 of these, the Wii Remote can then tell if its upside down, on its side or pointing up.
