Had that happen on my 94 SL2 when the ex drained and refilled the cooling system, and didn't run the car until warmed with the expansion tank cap off. The dash light started blinking, and the car overheated once. There was an air pocket in the system. Solved by running the car until warmed up with the cap off, and it burped, out went the light. If that isn't the problem, it could be a faulty CTS (coolant temperature sensor). Are there any other symptoms? Does the car overheat? Is it low on coolant? Is the gauge reading low?
