What might a bi-metal strip be used for?

A bi-metal strip can be used as a thermostat. It consists of two metals that expand by different amounts when the temperature changes, so it will bend when heated. When the temperature is hot, the switch will close. When it is cold, the switch will open. They are not as accurate and quick to respond as sensors, yet they are less expensive.

What is the purpose of digital thermometer?

It is a simple device. A variable electronic resister, called a thermistor, is used and is on the end of the cord. The resister varies it's resistance value depending on temperature. The probe must be placed in the area (outside) where you want the temperature. There is a second one in the unit itself and will show the inside temperature.

How does a bimetallic strip works in a thermostat?

The switch contains a sandwich strip of 2 metals with two different coefficients of thermal expansion. The dial you would turn to control the temperature modifies the resistance of the circuit - thus current (or would be set digitally nowadays). When the desired temperature has been reached, one of the metals stretches more than the other. The metal sandwich curls, thus disconnecting the contact of the switch.

How can a bimetallic strip be used to regulate temperature?

A bimetallic strip is two different metals glued together. When the temperature changes each metal expands (or contracts) but by different amounts, so the strip as a whole ends up bending. This bending property can be used to turn on (or off) a heater switch.

Why is thermal switch often included on the control circuit for a glow-coil pilot burner ignition?

Thermal switch is to cut off the pilot ignition circuit when the heater temperature is beyond a set temperature. The thermal switch limits the temperature and protects the heaters

What is the purpose of a temperature unit sensor will it make your radiator fan stay on constantly?

The temperature sensor you're asking about is a device that detects a temperature above a specific point, usually somewhere around 180F, then closes the contacts of a switch. The switch can directly run a motor or it may be connected to a relay. If the contacts of the temperature sensor switch become damaged they can weld together and the switch will stay on constantly.
