So Neutrophils (granulocytes) are the most common white blood cell in humans, and they play a huge role in our immune system. So having an abnormally high number (over 8000 or so) means that something has triggered your immune system fairly drastically, but it come come from a plethora of factors. Stress, infection, renal (kidney) failure, anemia (iron deficiency), eclampsia (pregancy complication), and in some cases cancer.

Neutrophils is responsible for fighting infectious organisms they reached the infected site ,they engulf and kill the infectious organism . Elevated neutrophils indicate some viral infection, or bacterial infection
