I have never heard of an Oriental elm but there are two species that originate in the East. Ulmus parvifolia the Chinese elm and Ulmus davidiana japonica the Japanese elm. Both are medium sized at maturity, though not for a small garden.
Some features of an elm tree include a graceful, drooping umbrella-like silhouette, oval tapering leaves and dark gray bark. You can learn more about elm trees at the Wikipedia. Once on the page, type "Elm" into the search field at the top of the page and press enter to bring up the information.
