they eat a seed mix but lots of different vegetables, maybe a rice&bean mix, but never ever feed them avocado that will kill it. you can also feed it grapes, bread, crackers, carrots, etc. they are like a human in bird form. They are not like dogs or cats because they need to be fed lots of different veggies every day.
I buy a special blend at the bird store with nuts, seeds and dried fruit. They also benefit from a fresh fruit and vegetable diet except avocado.
1. Seed-mix for parrots (best to get specie seedmix because African greys are different than other parrots they need high amount of Vitamin A and Calsium)
2. Pellet- mix for parrots
3. any kind of fruits but Never ever give your parrot avacado it can kill a parrot
4. Vegtables
5. occasionally rise (They love rise but limit it because it doesnt cover your parrots need and make them not eat the more important food)
Since African greys have a special need when it comes to Vitamin A and Calsium find out what food will help avoiding this problem.
Remember Parrots are not like dogs and cats they need many kinds of food in 1 day
