Asexual is a sexual orientation which is the opposite of bisexual. So an asexual person is a person who is not romantically and/or sexually attracted to other people. This sexually saturated world is a hostile place to asexual persons. They probably make up around 1 percent of the general population.
Something to note is that not all asexuals are free of sexual feelings nor behaviors. Some are more like low-intensity bisexuals. Something else to consider is that this doesn't mean they don't have sex. They may masturbate, or they may be in an unfulfilling sexual relationship. Since they lack the emotional sexual responses, they get little out of the experience, and their partners may be frustrated or unfulfilled because of the low level of sex in the relationship.
