Dan Cody's name alludes to the Old West outlaw Buffalo Bill Cody. This connection suggests that Cody is a larger-than-life figure with a wild and adventurous spirit, similar to the legendary character of Buffalo Bill Cody.
Cody, Wyoming is famous because it was named for Colonel William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody, whose show "Buffalo Bill's Wild West" toured the US and Europe for 30 years. Buffalo Bill helped found Cody, Wyoming and built a hotel in Cody in 1902 and named it for his daughter, Irma. Cody is also famous for its Cody Nite Rodeo and its location close to the Buffalo Bill Dam and Yellowstone National Park. Cody, Wyoming is also the home of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. The center contains 5 museums including the Buffalo Bill Museum, the Plains Indians Museum, the Whitney Western Art Museum, the Cody Firearms Museum, and the Draper Natural History Museum. It also houses the Harold McCracken Research Library.
