ff is dynamic indication in music. It stands for "fortissimo", which means "very loud".

In music, dynamics normally refers to the volume of a sound or note, but can also refer to every aspect of the execution of a given piece, either stylistic (staccato, legato etc.) or functional (velocity). The term is also applied to the written or printed musical notation used to indicate dynamics.

We always called it Fortisi-isi-issimo but its real name is "fortississimo" and it basically means play or sing as loud as possible.

Basically musical terms are as such:

PP =Pianissimo (very soft)

P = Piano (soft)

MP = Mezzo Piano (half as softly) [mezzo = half in Italian]

MF = Mezzo Forte (half as loud)

F= Forte (loud)

FF = Fortissimo (Very loud)

So if you're doing the exact opposite, it would be called Pianississimo (very very soft) which you normally see in gentle chorale and church pieces. A good example of FFF would be in "O Fortunta" or something of that ilk where you want soaring notes and power (think Wagner).
