Best Answer

A generalization is a statement drawn from particular facts that is generally true about a broad category of things. As such, it may be misleading or stereotypical, and not accurate for an entire group or category.

Example : "Old coins and stamps are valuable."

(They can be, but some are and some aren't. It depends on supply and demand.)

Ethnic Generalizations

Irish people drink a lot of alcohol.

Black people have rhythm.

White men can't jump. (Basketball)

All animals have four legs.

Those are generalizations. They may or may not be true for any specific individual.
