This is the resting pressure of the circulatory system. This is the pressure available in the circulatory system when the heart is at rest.
There is either too little fluid in the vascular system or too few particles. You must have pressure even during the resting period for proper cell perfusion. This can also indicate a serious problem with the heart valves which help keep the resting system pressurized.
it means the pressure in your arteries is low when the heart is at rest (b/w beats); pt is considered hypotensive if diastolic is below 60
Having diastolic blood pressure means one has hypertension, or high blood pressure. One should see a doctor to get treated because it is life threatening.
What causes low diastolic blood pressure?
Low diastolic blood pressure
A diastolic blood pressure of 48 is low for an adult. Whether it is too low depends on your symptoms, your health history, and the choice of blood pressure cuff.
Whereas Systolic pressure means the peak in blood pressure when your heart contracts, Diastolicpressure is the pressure when your heart relaxes, between beats.Low diastolic pressure usually means a low total volume of blood in the vascular system for the heart to pump. The most common causes of this would be dehydration or hemorrhage.
Low diastolic blood pressure can indicate heart problems, endocrine problems, dehydration, allergies, blood loss, infection, or pregnancy. It can cause dizziness and fainting.
Normal blood pressure is 120 over 80.Low blood pressure is 90 over 60.Your diastolic pressure is bit low
"Normal" blood pressure is somewhere between 90/60 and 140/90. Systolic - the top number Diastolic - the bottom number Systolic pressure is when the heart is contracted and squeezing blood out of the heart. Diastolic pressure is when the heart is relaxed and letting blood flow into the heart.
The first number would be your systolic, meaning the pressure in the vessels as the heart contracts, then the next number would be t he diastolic, when the heart is at rest. The average blood pressure is around 120 over 90.
A correct blood pressure reading consists of 2 index numbers, namely a systolic, and a diastolic number. Your diastolic number(s) seem pretty low, especially for a systolic of 108, and a bad reading is suspected.
Normal blood pressure is 120/80, so a diastolic of 60 is a bit low. Check with your Doctor.

Many online health and doctor sites such as WebMD, MayoClinic or HealthCentral provide information also for healthy blood pressure. Typically a blood pressure that is considered normal is systolic between 120 and 140 and diastolic between 80 and 90. Low diastolic pressure is called hypotension in medical terms.
