because the Vietnam war stoarted and the hippys just wated a peace and no fighting so they began a mosh pit sort of thing and began to ask for peace and they did drugs to.that's why i think it started

Anyone that is interested in bowling and anyone that is a hippie might have a peace sign bowling ball. This does not mean that this person is a hippie, it just means that they -might- be.

National Hippie Day is just National Peace Day but young children think it's cool to call it National Hippie Day. (I would be one of those "young children". ;)
Yes, most girls who were hippies were also feminists. The hippie movement was concerned about peace and social justice, which included gender equality.
The peace sign is a hippie symbol, along with sandals, long hair and a head band. GI's in Vietnam referred to the "Peace" symbol as the "foot print of the American Chicken"...as that's about what the sign looks like.
