Some users somewhere between 2005 and 2006 said it stood for Instant Messaging Virtual Universe, some users said it stood for I Envy You, because IMVU sounds like that when it's said really fast, however a staff member (preferably Clare of Customer Services ) confirmed that IMVU doesn't stand for anything.
