Insider information is any information that might affect the public stock price of that company and is considered proprietary ( private) until it is made public (actually published) by at least one public media, such as a wire service like Rueters. Before it is made public no one may make a stock trade based on that information, such as the board members, that would give the president and board members an unfair advantage over the individual stock buyers and the markets would not be considered a stable place. Thirty minutes after the wire service has published the information, any one may trade the stock, buy or sell depending on what the information was.
