If Punxsutawney Phil (the famous groundhog resident of Punxsutawney, PA) sees his shadow on February 2, there will be six more weeks of winter in the United States.
However, according to StormFax Weather Almanac records, Phil's predictions are only 39% accurate.
technically yes and no. yes because the ground hog did not see his shadow. no because just because a ground hog does not see a shadow does not mean the winter is coming to a close.
It comes out of the hole and looks for it’s shadow. If it sees its shadow, that means 2 more weeks of winter. If it doesn‘t, that means spring will come early. Of course, the groundhog is 50% right and 50% wrong. You can’t actually trust the groundhog.
