Your GPA is your grade point average in school. for each grade you get (A, A- B+ etc.) it is assigned a certain amount of points with and "A" having the highest amount of points. At the end of each school session (semester, quarter etc.) when the points are all added that is called your Grade Point Average. To maintain it means that you have to keep your grades high so that you do not get a low GPA, which means you are a bad student. Your GPA is what colleges and businesses look at to see how well you did in school, and if you are the kind of person they want to accept or hire. People with very high GPA's have a much better chance of getting jobs and going to college than people with low GPA's.
A 2.0 will keep you in, but doesn't show that you are able to do much. It is average.
Some schools require a higher GPA in your major, however, and some forms of financial aid, such as scholarships and grants, also require students to maintain a higher GPA. This varies by school and by individual financial aid package; check with your school for assistance.
Grade Point Average. (If you get a 4.0 or A in a high school course and a 3.0 or B in a high school course, your GPA would be 3.5)
This is your grade point average. This determined by the adding number points for each grade divided by the number of credits, classes, or units taken.
For instance , let us look at a hypothetical report card;
Math - A
Science - C
Reading - B
Health - A
English - C
PE - A
If all classes were worth 1 credit or unit then your GPA can be determined by
3 A's (4 points each) = 12
1 B (3 points) = 3
2 C's - (2 points each) = 4
12 + 3 + 4 = 19 Divided by 6 units + a 3.17 GPA.
My good grades allowed me to maintain a GPA of above 3.8.
A B to A GPA should do it.

There are many African American scholarships out there and they will reward students that can maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. To me, that's easy to maintain and being able to receive an African American Scholarship is a great feeling.
