He is being a gentleman and this what a gentleman does when he is around or with a woman who is cold. Our society has lost some of this "style", but this young man is a nice fellow and has been taught what to do. If it was on a date he is a "keeper" and knows how to treat you correctly. He has been raised well and is polite.
