Sublimation is a property of dry ice because of Earth's atmospheric pressure. Dry ice would turn to liquid CO2 at 5.1 ATMs. Earth is about 1 ATM. This causes dry ice to turn directly from a solid to a gas (sublimation).

I am not pretty sure about this. But I can apply the lesson of Molecular Kinetics of Physical Chemistry.

We know positive charge attracts negative charge particles, we also know that heat makes ions and molecules move faster (one example is heating to make solids melt because of heat the molecular formation of solids disarrange and will be deformed, which is the molecular formation of liquid. That is melting) And cold makes molecules to move slower or even stops and that causes to become solid as water is freeze and become solid.

CO2 is a covalent bonding because of their electro negativity and they are

also both nonmetals which means they don't strongly attract each other because they are not negative and positive ions. And we know positive and negative attracts and positive + positive and negative + negative never attracts and always apart from each other.

Now CO2 ice or Dry Ice is CO2 covalent bonding, As cold continued, the molecules of this CO2 is move slower or even stopped and made them close from other molecules which causes to become a SOLID because of CLOSE MOLECULAR FORMATION. As the temperature goes higher, even the temperature is not hot, the dry ice sublimates because they are both gases and they are also both slightly positive which causes to make molecules move apart and that causes to sublimate. And we also know that MOLECULAR FORMATION OF GAS IS APART, AND POSITIVE TO POSITIVE MAKES THEM MOVE APART THAT CAUSES TO BECOME GAS! =)

This is related to salts.

Salts has a higher melting point because they are ionic bonding (negative to positive) that makes a high melting point because the attraction of negative to positive is very strong that it takes the heat to increase to make the molecules move faster and apart. And we also know that molecular formation of liquid is slightly apart.

warning: I'm really not sure about this.

Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide. The molecules are at a low enough temperature to allow the weak inter molecular attractions to hold the molecules in a solid, crystalline structure. Sublimation does not change the 'particles' (molecules). They just have more kinetic energy which breaks the attractive forces holding them in a solid form and allows them to become gas molecules. The molecules are still CO2.

Sublimation means something is going from a solid stage directly to a gas stage. Dry ice is frozen solid CO2 therefore when it sublimates it becomes CO2 in a gas form.
