You are entitled to be called Lord instead of Mister and you are able to sit in the House of Lords (part of Parliament). The title "Lord" indicates that the man (women are styled "Lady") has a "peerage" that entitles the holder of the title to a seat in the House of Lords. Those holding the title of Duke, Marquess, Earl, Viscount, or Baron may be addressed as "Lord". Note that the titles can either be hereditary or life. Hereditary titles can be passes down to an offspring; life titles cannot. The title must be bestowed by a monarch.
