it means that it is time for it to grow and will change it's shell when it is done. If you see the shedded exoskeleton, DO NOT REMOVE IT because the hermit crab will be hungry and will eat the exoskeleton for calcium. my hermit crab is eating his molted claw right now... kinda wierd though
If it is molting underground, leave it there. Don't dig it up! This could interrupt the molting process and cause the hermit crab to come above ground before it is ready, and it could still be vulnerable, and its' cage mates could eat it. Just spray the area the hermit crab is in specially a few times a day.
If the hermit crab is NOT above ground and it molted above ground, put the hermit crab AND IT'S EXOSKELETON in a bowl with some of it's substrate and a hut or something to protect it from the lights in it's cage. A hermit crab's ideal molting area is moist and dark. A hermit crab eats it's exoskeleton when it molts, which is why you should leave the exoskeleton with the hermit crab. It eats it to regain it's calcium and other health while it is molting.
I hope I've helped!
It means that they are shedding their old exoskeleton and getting a new one, that's how they grow.
A molting hermit crab is a period when a hermit crab sheds its exoskelton. From time to time your crab must shed its exoskeleton in order to grow.
He is growing, changing into next size clothes....
Hermit crabs usually take about a month (4 weeks) to about 6 weeks to molt. Some might take less time, so might take more time but thats the approximate molting period.
Hermit crabs molt in 14-15 months
Nothing really. It is probably molting or just trying to get some shade. Look up " What should you do when your hermit crab is molting? " for what to do when your hermit crab is molting. Or just type in " molting " to know what molting is.
no
It will usually be molting for a month or two. It's important that you try to leave your crab alone when it's molting.
i think it was 10 years
No, it is most likely molting.
Hermit crabs molt when they feel the need to. Nothing is wrong with your crab if it hasn't molted. :)
some of them
Your Hermit Crab is not naked it is just molting into a different shell, mostly a bigger one.So don't be suprised if he/she is "naked".
you don't need to do anything a hermit crab will do it itself. if a hermit crab losses a leg it will grow back. it will grow back after molting.
No, you cannot. You have to put them in separate cages when they' re molting.
what it looks like is a naked hermit crab so if your hermit crab isn't picking it shell for almost a day get more changing shells so if your hermit crab is naked don't worry just give them some time
Yes, so if a hermit crab is molting put some card board in between the hermit crab and the others because the others might dig it up and eat it alive. Make SURE both sides of hermit crabs have food and water. Even though the hermit crab might not dig up that, day it might while you are away, and it will need food and water as soon as it comes up.
