Kyu mean below a black belt
I'm not sure if 'kyu' has any real meaning, but 'nya' is the Japanese equivalent of 'meow'. If it was a kid who said it, probably has no meaning at all. If it was an adult, they could be talking about a cat. Well, I hope that helped...

Kyu Sakimoto was a Japanese singer/actor. He recorded the only Japanese language #1 Billboard hit "Sukiyaki" in 1963. Kyu died, at the age of 43, on August 12th, 1985 in the crash of Japan Airlines flight 123.
