In medicine however we try to match a chromophore or color target to a specific wavelength. This chomophore can be any type of structure in the body. There are many types of lasers that we use in medicine because there is such a diversity of chromophores. We can also pulse the laser energy in a short burst so that we can distroy objects such as Kidney Stones. Lasers have and will continue to have a great impact on medicine.
