Magnesium and oxygen combine to form magnesium oxide. It is basic in nature.
The magnesuim melts and the reaction of it is it produces a bright light ! then when it has cooled down the magnesuim turns into magnesuim oxide because the magnesuim and oxygen attach together because the particles mix together to make magesuim oxide! :)
Magnesium is just an element. Magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) is a compound which contains the element magnesium.
I would draw circles for the magnesuim in one colour and the oxygen in another and the fire in another then show the particle merged together with the different colours to show the compound od MgO

magnesuim does not have a smell
Chemical formula of magnesium carbonate is MgCO3. Magnesium carbonate contain magnesium, carbon and oxygen.
From the acid (or the water with which the acid is diluted).

Primarily it reacts with oxygen to produce magnesium oxide. 2Mg + O2 --> 2MgO However, some of it reacts with nitrogen to produce magnesium nitride. 3Mg + N2--> Mg3N2
Magnesium is symbolized by Mg .
