Ecclesiastes 5:2 "Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few."
To genuinely practice "one nation under God" means to elevate God's words above man's.
Another word for nation is "country".
In actuality, the original phrase is "one nation indivisible", which makes much more sense. When the "under God" was added in the 1950's, it split the phrase apart, which I find ironic.
I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. This is a line from the Pledge of Allegiance. The "Republic for which it stands" is referring to the government which stands behind the Flag of the United States of America.

Never defined, which makes the Pledge all the more confusing to little children.
No. If you mean in school, they cannot force you to participate in the pledge.

liberty means freedom
A flag is the national identity of a nation. We have them in schools and say the pledge of allegiance everyday because everything that we are has not come without sacrifice. "The foundation of every state is the education of its' youth". The moment of silence is to think about all the good things this nation has become and to give thanks.
It means that you are pledging allegiance to the USA . . . the flag in this context stands for the USA.
Equality before men
An oath of loyalty to the U.S. Flag and the nation it represents
