In order to allow Parvana to walk freely around the market, they will dress her in a burqa, which covers her body from head to toe and hides her identity as a girl. This disguise will enable her to move about the market without drawing attention to herself or risking punishment for being a girl in public.

Parvana's relationship with Shauzia changed because Shauzia left in the hopes of travelling to Paris, so she left Parvana. And if you've read the book Parvana's journey, you'll notice that Parvana keeps writing to Shauzia because she has no one left, even though she doesn't know where Shauzia is
