The letters plat is short for platinum.

its only 18k gold plated, not full gold This could be incorrect. If the ring has 18K/PLAT then the ring is 18K gold with some platinum. Probably to hold the diamond.

PLAT means Platinum. I have seen a diamond ring with the diamond held by a silvery metal whilst main ring is gold. It is stamped "PLAT 18CT".

Do you mean Plate? or "Plat" If the ring is marked 14k plate, it's plated. If the ring is marked 14k plat- it's likely that the ring is bi-metal mixed with gold and platinum, commonly it will have white metal around any stones.. If there are no stones possibly a white accent on certain parts of the ring. Now, if the ring really says "Plai" - It could be the makers name, not sure!

plat is generally the abbreviation for platinum 18 kt would mean 18 karat gold. Karat (with a k) is a measure of gold purity. ct is an abbreviation for carat, which is a weight measure for diamonds and other gemstones. Your ring may be platinum and gold. Or, if there is a stone in the ring, the stamp could indicate the weight of the stone(s) is 18 carats or more likely (0.18 ct)

It most likely says "plat" instead of "flat", which is short for platinum. The 18k means 18 carat gold, so your ring is 18 carat gold with platinum, the platinum probably being what the stones are set in.
