How did carbon dioxide end up in sedimentary rocks?

Carbon dioxide is dissolved into the sea. Marine organisms use the dissolved carbon dioxide to make shells of calcium carbonate. When these organisms die, they fall to the sea bed. Layers of dead organisms and sediment build up on the sea bed. These layers are compacted and compressed to form sedimentry rock.

What causes a river to deposit sediment?

Most sediment washes or falls into a river as a result of mass movement and runoff. Other sediment erodes from the bottom or sides of the river. Wind can also drop sediment into the water. Hope I helped! -DorkyGeek77

Which river does not form any delta at its mouth?

A river which arrives at the sea which has a high tidal range will not form a delta. This is because the change in the tidal area will wash the sediment brought down by the river away. It is the build up of sediment brought down by the river into a relatively tideless sea which forms the delta.

Where does sea sediment Jasper come from?

Sea sediment jasper is a type of jasper that is often found near the shores of oceans, where sediments have accumulated over time. The unique patterns and colors in sea sediment jasper are a result of different minerals and compounds being deposited in the sediment layers that eventually solidify into jasper.

How do fossils get inside a cave?

Not sure quite what category this question was in originally, but to give a straight answer the fossils were actually within the cave's surrounding rock as that formed from a sea-bed sediment deposit.

Why do rock and not fossils form sedimentary rock and not igneous rock?

Because sedimentery rock is formed under the sea, sediment collects at the bottom of the ocean, and so does a few dead sea creatures, then t gets squashed by other sediment, igneous rock is formed by lava cooling, so there is no fossils in it.

What is a bed screw?

A bed screw is a form of jack screw which is used for lifting large bodies within the sea and assisting in launching the bodies to sail.

How does sediment get deposited?

Sediment is eroded (mainly) rock carried down stream by a river. As the river flow slows heavier particles fall and settle on the river bed. Lighter particle are carried the furthest out into the sea, where they too settle on the sea floor. Storms, floods and shifting tidal currents can alter or change the amount of sediment the river carriers and the rate at which the sediment settles in the sea. The finest sediment is known as silt, and is the slippery mud that lines the tidal estuary creeks where the river flow is the least.
