The most popular and well-known translation of "nephesh" is "soul." But it's translated in a vast number of ways throughout the King James Version.
According to "Strong's Definitions" throughout the KJV of The Bible, "nephesh" is translated:
"...any, appetite, beast, body, breath, creature... fish, ghost... he, heart(-y)... lust, man, me, mind, mortally, one, own, person, pleasure... them(your)-selves, + slay, soul, +tablet, they, thing..."
