It's founder is Helga Hufflepuff and she was described as 'taking the rest' by the sorting hat, which could imply that people that don't express characteristics of any other house are sorted into this one. It's ghost is the Fat Frier and it's common room is near to the kitchens. In the time that Harry Potter is set, Pomona Sprout is the head of Hufflepuff house aswell as being a Herbology teacher. Many Hufflepuff house students stayed to fight at the Battle Of Hogwarts. Cedric Diggory was a Triwizard champion and also a member of Hufflepuff house. Hannah Abbott was also a Hufflepuff who went on to own The Leaky Cauldron.

Hufflepuff is one of the four Houses at Hogwarts.

A witch named Helga Hufflepuff founded this house.

Hufflepuff is the most inclusive among the four houses, valuing hard work, patience, friendship and fair play rather than a particular aptitude in its members.

When the founders of Hogwarts, Rowena Ravenclaw, Godric Grffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, and Salazar Slytherin, formed the school, Slytherin only wanted to let "pure bloods" in the school, wizards of all wizard ancestry, but the others refused. Slytherin left the school, but was rumored to have built a chamber in the school, the Chamber of Secrets. Every time the Chamber is opened, the heir of Slytherin win unleash a monster that will kill all the "mudbloods" in the school. Luckily Harry Potter kills this monster and defeats the heir in the book Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, by J.K. Rowling.
