There are two "C's on the recorder. One is called low c which is the very last hole on the recorder at the bottom. You play it by putting all of your fingers on the wholes they go on and your thumb on the hole in the back.
Then there is a high c which is the second highest sounding note on recorder. The second note from the top is where you place your middle finger. Just your middle finger lays on the second hole, not even the first one before it. Then on the back you put your thumb on the back hole and blow a high note.

Put your thumb on top of the hole in the back, then cover your middle finger on the 'A' hole. After you have the holes for 'A' covered lift your pointer finger on your left hand.
