'Fe-' is not considered to be a prefix, as the words 'female' and 'male' evolved seperately. The word 'male' was taken from the Old French 'malle' which in turn came from the Latin 'Masculus'. 'Female' originates from 'femele', which was also stolen from the French, who had adapted it from the Latin word 'Femina'.
