A red flag with one white diagonal stripe is a Diver flag. Underwater divers fly them from little buoys to tell boaters where they plan to surface, so the boaters won't run the divers over.
Usually it means there is a diver in the water.
A square red flag with a diagonal white stripe means there is a Scuba diver operating underwater in that area.
A bright red flag with a single diagonal white stripe is a warning flag for boaters- It tells them there are scuba divers in that area. It is not nice to run into divers with your boat!
