Hydrogen nuclei undergo fusion within the Sun and this reaction releases energy as 0.3% of the hydrogen's mass is converted into energy. This energy spans several bands of the electromagnetic spectrum, most of it is in the UV-Vis portion. For more information look up blackbody radiation.

The sun is our main source of light, and light is made up of 7 different colours:

Red,

Orange,

Yellow,

Green,

Blue,

Indigo,

Violet.

Even though you cant see these colours all the time, they're still there. These lights also have an order, and order of low and high frequency/energy. The electromagnetic spectrum also has this order but with types of radiation instead of light. Scientists have matched the colour spectrum with the electromagnetic spectrum so that it may be easier to remember.

The electromagnetic spectrum is:

Radio wave,

Micro-wave,

Infrared heat,

Visible,

Ultra-violet radiation,

X-rays,

Gamma radiation.
